Het hoofd koelhouden voor alle IC-artsen en verpleegkundigen

Keeping a cool head for all ICU doctors and nurses

Hundreds of ICU doctors and nurses are currently fighting for the lives of others. The protective clothing they wear are mostly sealed suits, causing some to suffer from heat stress. Especially for them, the NOC*NSF provided hundreds of cooling vests that would be used by our athletes at the Olympics. INUTEQ, which makes the cooling vests, is poised to provide all healthcare workers with such’s cooling vest.

Heat stress is common in the sports world because delivering peak performance in extremely hot conditions takes a lot of (extra) energy. If an athlete exhibits heat stress symptoms, he or she should stop immediately, seek cooling and seek medical attention. This is often not possible for a doctor or nurse, as the pressure in an ICU is very high at this time. Therefore, to prevent overheating and heat stress top athletes wear special cooling vests.

Cooling vests of Olympic athletes

Healthcare workers wear a lot of special protective clothing. “You can imagine getting incredibly hot from all that extra protective clothing. These people can then also use an aid such as a cooling vest, just like an elite athlete”said Kamiel Maase, performance manager Innovation TeamNL. This is why the Dutch Olympic Federation NOC*NSF recently made hundreds of cooling vests available for the healthcare sector in the Netherlands. These special cooling vests would actually be used by the Dutch athletes during the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Comfortable work through
In a number of hospitals, cooling vests are now being used extensively by healthcare staff. The Radboudumc conducted additional tests with these. Dr. Thijs Eijsvogels, physiologist at the Radboudumc says: “Doctors and nurses who treat Corona patients can work comfortably for up to three hours under the protective suit thanks to this special cooling vest. The cooling vest maintains a stable body temperature, reduces sweating, maintains concentration and speeds recovery after each intense work session.”

For all healthcare professionals in the Netherlands
INUTEQ is a Dutch company that makes these special cooling vests. Our goal is to make these cooling vests available to all hospitals in the Netherlands. In this way, together we want to ensure that our caregivers can continue to perform in these extreme conditions”says Eric Pellis, one of the owners of INUTEQ. The company has a lot of experience in making cooling apparel and has been working with sports coaches, doctors and medics for years to develop the right cooling vests.
To ensure that all healthcare workers will soon be able to work with a comfortable cooling vest, INUTEQ is offering this special cooling vest at a very reduced price until further notice.
